The 2025 European Bodysurf Tour opened on October 3–4 on the beaches of Anglet, bringing together athletes from seven nations. Each competitor shared the same goal: earning points toward qualification for the 2026 World Final, which will be held on the French coast.
Despite a challenging forecast and an incoming storm, the event was successfully completed thanks to the commitment of organizers, judges, and volunteers.
On Friday, the competition director launched the Open divisions in difficult 1.1 m waves with a persistent onshore wind and a shifting multi-peak lineup.
In the Open Men’s division, several favorites fell early — including Ruben Cambas, Nathan Lehoux, and 2024 champion Niels Schorsch — before Mohamed Chouaib Boudhim (Morocco) emerged as the standout performer.
Reading the changing conditions with precision, Boudhim found the few waves that opened long enough to secure victory, ending a streak of French dominance in Anglet.
Paul Grieumard (France) took second place, ahead of Noah Élan and Gabi Courtejaire Claverie, both from France.
In the Open Women’s final, Alyssa Sauvy (France) claimed victory over Nina Declercq, with Ambre Gautier and Uhaina-Kailani Hegoas following closely behind.

International Highlights: Europe and Beyond
This first 2025 Tour stop confirmed the truly international dimension of the Eurobodysurf circuit.
Alongside the French athletes, Morocco, Portugal, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia were all represented in both men’s and women’s divisions — an unprecedented diversity for the Anglet event.
In Open Men, Morocco shone once again thanks to Mohamed Chouaib Boudhim’s dominant win and a solid performance from Najib Nmila (17th) and Iliass Kanouni (25th).
Portugal placed two riders in the Top 20 — João Moço (7th) and João Brogueira (17th) — confirming the country’s strong and steady presence on the European scene.
The United Kingdom made its mark with Thomas Arrow (17th) and Oliver Ross-Macdonald (17th) both scoring valuable points, while Danny Teare (25th) added another British name to the rankings.
The most remarkable development came from Italy, whose national team made its first collective appearance in Anglet.
With Nazzareno Picchianti (25th), Michele Florio (32nd), Stefano Ghibellini (32nd), Davide Sanguineti (32nd), Federico De Nicola (32nd), and Marco Pascali (32nd), the Italians demonstrated both depth and determination. Their technical style and competitive energy drew attention throughout the event, marking Italy as a rising force in European bodysurfing.
In the Open Women’s division, the international field also impressed.
Anna-Lei Petit (Australia) earned a strong 7th-place finish in her first European appearance, while Sakina Bargach (Morocco) and Alice Wiedemeyer Latuf (Germany) tied for 10th. These results confirm the growing appeal of the Eurobodysurf Tour far beyond European borders.

Saturday Sessions: Calm Before the Storm
Saturday morning offered a short competition window at the Club spot. Clean, offshore conditions allowed for high-quality heats before the forecasted storm hit later in the day, destroying the lineup and forcing the cancellation of the remaining rounds.
In the other categories, French riders maintained their dominance, with wins for Uhaina-Kailani Hegoas and Ruben Cambas in the Junior divisions, Matthias Hegoas in Masters, and Patrice Grieumard in Grand Masters.

The Euro Bodysurf Tour will now move south to Mehdia, Morocco, on November 9–10, where competitors will continue to chase points ahead of the 2026 IBSA BWT Finals.
