The Road to the 2027 Bodysurfing World Tour Finals Begins in Capbreton

The first stop of the Euro Bodysurf Tour, a qualifying event for the 2027 IBSA Bodysurfing World Tour Finals in Brazil, took place at Santocha Beach in Capbreton, France, on October 10–11, 2026.

Saturday, October 10 – Opening Rounds: Open Men and Women

The competition kicked off on Saturday in small, multi-peak surf conditions, with the opening rounds of the Men’s Open division. Competitors adapted well to the challenging waves, demonstrating strong technical skills and excellent ocean awareness.

Following the first two rounds of the men’s competition, the Women’s Open quarterfinals took center stage. As conditions improved throughout the morning, the women delivered impressive performances and posted some excellent scores.

The men’s quarterfinals then got underway, but competition was eventually suspended as the incoming tide pushed the breaking waves too close to shore, making conditions unsuitable for high-level bodysurfing.

Sunday, October 11 – Finals Day

Competition resumed on Sunday in promising conditions, beginning with the remaining Men’s Open quarterfinals, followed by the final rounds across all divisions.

Around midday, low tide produced heavy closeouts and difficult conditions, forcing organizers to suspend competition for approximately two hours.

As the tide began to rise, wave quality gradually improved. Conditions became better with each heat, setting the stage for exciting showdowns in the two premier divisions, Women’s Open and Men’s Open.

In the Women’s Open, Alyssa Sauvy claimed victory after an incredibly close final, with just 1.2 points separating the top three finishers.

1. Alyssa Sauvy (France) 10.70

2. Victoire Vergnes (France) 10.00

3. Uhaina-Kailani Hegoas (France) 9.50

4. Anna-Lei Petit (France) 5.00

In the Men’s Open, Ruben Cambas delivered an outstanding performance to defeat reigning European Champion Paul Grieumard. Cambas controlled the heat through excellent wave selection and made the most of the available scoring opportunities against strong opposition.

1. Ruben Cambas (France) 16.14

2. Paul Grieumard (France) 14.76

3. Julen Marticorena (France) 11.67

4. Alix Schorsch (France) 11.17

In the Masters 40+ divisions, two challengers rose to the occasion: Ibtissame Benjedira (Morocco) in the women’s division and Andre Alonso Lanfer (Spain) in the men’s division, both securing victories in closely contested finals.

In the Grand Masters 50+ division, defending champion Patrice Grieumard (France) successfully retained his title with a commanding performance in the final.

A Celebration of the International Bodysurfing Community

A heartfelt thank-you goes to all the athletes who traveled from across Europe and even Australia, including two competitors who stayed in France following the IBSA Finals the previous week.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the City of Capbreton and Santocha Surf Club for welcoming the event to their beach.
